Orlando Pirates Player Opens Up About Injury Struggles: A Tough Time I Faced
Olisa Ndah, defender for Orlando Pirates, has voiced his disappointment regarding his prolonged injury setback.
The 26-year-old experienced a tibia fracture during his team’s 3-0 victory against Polokwane City in September. The Nigerian international is anticipated to be sidelined until next year. However, his absence hasn’t been heavily felt this season, with Thabiso Sesane and Nkosinathi Sibisi effectively managing the defense.
Addressing the media for the first time since the injury, the Orlando Pirates standout expressed his frustration at missing crucial matches so early in the season.
“I was down, to be honest. I wouldn’t go as far as to say I was depressed,” the defender stated as per SNL24.
“I spoke with the national team and coach (Augustine Eguavoen), and he was taken aback by the news.
“He wished me a swift recovery, and it’s been a whirlwind where I felt things were finally going my way.
“Now, I’m just eager to focus on my recovery and return to the pitch stronger.”
Orlando Pirates defender Ndah still on the mend
Coach Jose Riveiro of the Buccaneers is optimistic about Ndah returning to action with CAF Champions League fixtures approaching.
“Unfortunately, we can’t change the fact that Olisa will be unavailable for an extended period, but the medical team is dedicated to ensuring he and other injured players return as soon as possible,” Riveiro mentioned.
Another Orlando Pirates defender currently sidelined due to injury is Tapelo Xoki. It remains uncertain when both defenders will make their comeback.
