ANC Sweeps Ward 35 Bekkersdale By-Elections
Johannesburg – The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng has secured a significant victory in the recent by-elections held at Ward 35 in Bekkersdale, within the West Rand Region.
“This win reinforces the ANC’s commitment to engaging with the community during the candidate selection process, ensuring community approval instead of imposing candidates without considering the needs of the people they serve,” stated the ANC on Thursday, (6 February 2025).
“We regard this as a pivotal moment that reflects our renewed dedication to aligning closely with our constituents.”
The ANC in Gauteng emphasized that under the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa and Premier Panyaza Lesufi, efforts will be made to enhance local government performance “to improve the living standards of our people and to make Gauteng and South Africa a better home for all.”
ANC Gauteng Provincial Secretary, Comrade Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza expressed: “We urge all our public representatives to not take this endorsement lightly, but to prioritize our communities and significantly increase our commitment to delivering essential services.”
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated and selfless volunteers who put in considerable effort to ensure the ANC’s success in this by-election despite numerous challenges.
“We also commend the hard work of the Regional Executive Committee of the ANC in the Westrand Region, its various leagues, and our alliance partners for their outstanding contributions towards this achievement.”
