New Developments: Wife Arrested for Alleged Assault on EMPD Officer; Investigation Continues for more Suspects
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) has announced that more arrests are expected soon regarding the murder of Officer Banele Sikhosana, who was shot last week in KwaThema, located east of Johannesburg.
Wife Charged with Conspiring to Commit Murder
On Friday, authorities apprehended Sikhosana’s wife, accusing her of hiring hitmen to assassinate her husband. Three suspects are currently detained, with police actively pursuing additional suspects, including the alleged mastermind behind the hit, who is thought to be in the Free State.

Acting EMPD Chief Julius Mkhwanazi commented: “Their accomplices who were involved in planning with them are now behind bars. We are currently tracking two or three more suspects and will be heading to the Free State to apprehend the organizer of this hit.”

Confession and Upcoming Court Hearing
One of the detained suspects has allegedly confessed, stating they were compensated to execute the hit, with the remaining payment made after Sikhosana was murdered.
All three suspects, including Sikhosana’s wife, are scheduled to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 February.
The investigation is ongoing, and police encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward.
