Gary Neville Claims Manchester United’s Squad is Inferior to Tottenham’s Despite Spending £420 Million More on Transfers in the Last 10 Years.

GARY NEVILLE suggests that Manchester United’s squad is INFERIOR to that of Tottenham, even though United has spent nearly half a billion pounds MORE over the last decade.

He maintains that only ONE player from the Red Devils is good enough to feature in the Spurs starting eleven.

Ruben Amorim’s struggling team went down 1-0 on the road in North London on Sunday.

James Maddison scored the only goal of the match from a rebound.

The playmaker seemed to reply to Roy Keane’s criticism with a modified darts celebration.

Due to several injuries, United had to include eight teenagers on the bench alongside Victor Lindelof.

Despite this injury crisis, Neville claims the Red Devils’ squad remains below par compared to Spurs – even with the massive financial difference.

During the Sky Sports Super Sunday analysis, the former right-back stated: “If we look at Tottenham’s best players – Porro, Udogie, Van de Ven, Romero, Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Kulusevski, Solanke, Son, Johnson, Tel – how many Manchester United players could genuinely join that Tottenham squad if everyone was fit?

“I believe you could consider Bruno Fernandes.

“Maybe Amad Diallo, but honestly, if I had to choose between Kulusevski and Amad, I’d probably lean toward Kulusevski.

“The fact is, every single Tottenham player, except for one, is superior to any Manchester United player available right now.

“It’s just disheartening to see Manchester United in this predicament.”

Since 2016, Manchester United has an incredible net spending of £1 billion on transfers.

This includes the club-record signing of Paul Pogba for £89 million in 2016, alongside the purchases of Antony (£85.5 million), Harry Maguire (£85 million), Romelu Lukaku (£75 million), Jadon Sancho (£73 million), and Rasmus Hojlund (£72 million).

The most significant acquisition this season was Leny Yoro for up to £52 million.

United’s record sale remains Cristiano Ronaldo, who was transferred to Real Madrid for £80 million in 2009, with the highest sum received since 2016 being £73 million from Inter Milan for Romelu Lukaku in 2019.

Interestingly, the fees received for Mason Greenwood (£26.6 million) and Scott McTominay (£25 million) during this summer are among the largest sales in United’s history.

Since 2016, United has brought in £371 million from player sales – the least among the ‘Big Six’ – leading to an overall net spend of roughly £1 billion.

In contrast, Tottenham’s net expenditure amounts to £580 million over the same period.

This reflects £995 million spent on new acquisitions and £415 million earned from sales.

Tottenham’s spending for this season has reached £145 million, featuring record signing Dominic Solanke for £65 million, Archie Gray for £40 million, Wilson Odobert for £25 million, and goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky for £12.5 million, who joined in January.
