Incident at Thabong

On Friday, February 14, 2025, the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit was conducting crime prevention patrols in Thabong and received a call regarding a murder incident in the Katleho Section. Initial reports indicated that Tshediso Ishmael Mosenohi, 47, was fatally stabbed in the neck following an argument with a known assailant, who subsequently fled the scene.

Information Sharing and Suspect Tracking

As the Anti-Gang Unit completed their shift on Saturday, February 15, 2025, they shared vital information regarding the suspect with the team coming on duty. This incoming team promptly activated their informant network, which verified that the suspect had fled to Reddersburg, a nearby town to Bloemfontein.

Apprehension in Reddersburg

On Sunday, February 16, 2025, around 14:00, the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit received precise information about the suspect’s whereabouts in Reddersburg. With the necessary authorization, the team headed to Reddersburg to pursue the suspect.

Upon their arrival, an off-duty member of the Reddersburg Community Service Centre (CSC) confirmed that the suspect was traveling from Matoporong to the Reddersburg Central Business District (CBD).

Collaborating with on-duty members of the Reddersburg CSC, the team successfully intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the suspect, a 30-year-old man, who has been charged with murder. The suspect is scheduled to appear in Welkom Magistrate’s Court on February 18, 2025.

This effective joint operation underscores the commitment of SAPS to combat crime and ensure community safety through coordinated efforts and intelligence gathering.
