Europa League and Conference League Last-16 Draws Revealed by Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea with Potential Opponents

MANCHESTER UNITED, Tottenham, and Chelsea are on the brink of identifying their rivals for the next phase of their respective European competitions.

The Premier League trio has successfully advanced to the round of 16 in either the Europa League or the Conference League, attributed to their impressive performances during the newly organized league stage.

Both Man Utd and Spurs secured spots among the top eight in the Europa League group stage, allowing them to bypass the play-off round typically needed to make it to the last 16.

They are now keenly awaiting to find out who their next opponents will be, chosen from the winners of the play-off matches involving each team.

Since United and Spurs finished side by side – in third and fourth places respectively – they will be on opposite sides of Friday’s draw.

This means they’ve had a heads-up for some time that each will face one from a selection of Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, AZ Alkmaar, or Midtjylland.

Following the conclusion of the play-off round, the pool of potential opponents has been narrowed down to just two – AZ Alkmaar and Real Sociedad.

The Dutch side AZ Alkmaar dispatched Galatasaray with an impressive 6-3 aggregate to earn a spot in the last 16, while Real Sociedad won 7-3 in a closely contested match against Midtjylland.

This outcome guarantees that Spurs and United will each draw either Sociedad or Alkmaar.

For example, if Spurs face Sociedad, then United will meet AZ Alkmaar – the Premier League clubs CANNOT compete against one another.
