South Africans Arrested with R7.5 Million Worth of Cocaine Seized in Drug Bust at OR Tambo Airport
Johannesburg – Authorities from the South African Police Service have apprehended two local nationals for drug trafficking at OR Tambo International Airport, confiscating cocaine with an estimated street value of R7.5 million.
“The suspects, a male and a female, arrived on separate flights from Brazil and were intercepted by police,” stated national police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, on Friday, (21 February 2025).
“Upon examination, the female suspect was discovered to be in possession of cocaine valued at R2.5 million, while the male suspect had R5 million worth of cocaine in his luggage.
“Both individuals were arrested and will face drug trafficking charges.”
Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk mentioned that investigations are still in progress.
