Counterfeit Merchandise Seized in Police Raid on Warehouses at Crown Mines and Dragon City Mall
Johannesburg – Authorities have taken action at warehouses located in Crown Mines and Dragon City Mall, discovering counterfeit merchandise valued at over one million rand.
Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Singo, spokesperson for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, commonly referred to as the Hawks, reported that during the operation, 31 illegal immigrants were apprehended at one of the warehouses.
Describing the events leading up to the raid, Lieutenant-Colonel Singo mentioned that on February 27, 2025, the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team at their Head Office in Pretoria received intelligence regarding warehouses involved in distributing counterfeit products within Johannesburg.
These warehouses were situated at Crown Mines and Dragon City.
“A search and seizure warrant was requested and approved on March 12, 2025,” stated Lieutenant-Colonel Singo.
“On March 17, 2025, the search and seizure operation was carried out, resulting in the confiscation of Hart Port valued at more than R1 million.
“The items seized by the police will undergo further investigation.”
The raid involved a collaborative effort from the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation (SCCI) team based at Head Office in Pretoria, the Gauteng Provincial SCCI, along with Vispol and Border police from Johannesburg, as well as Brand Holders in Gauteng.
Lieutenant-Colonel Singo confirmed that legal actions have been initiated against the owners of the warehouses.
