Titus Considers Moving Abroad – Sportswire
Stellenbosch player Devin Titus is aiming for a greater achievement than his former teammates Deano van Rooyen, Iqraam Rayners, and Jayden Adams—he dreams of playing on the international stage.
Van Rooyen, Rayners, and Adams have all made their way to the leading two teams in the PSL Betway Premiership: Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, respectively.
Van Rooyen was the first to leave Stellenbosch, signing with Pirates at the beginning of the season. Rayners followed soon after, joining Sundowns.
Sundowns enhanced their squad by securing the talented Adams during the January transfer window. Adams has had a considerable impact on Masandawana, who are approaching an unprecedented eighth league title.
In contrast, Titus, a pivotal player in Steve Barker’s youthful Stellenbosch squad, has aspirations that reach beyond the national league. The team had a remarkable run in their inaugural CAF Confederation Cup season, reaching the semi-finals before being ousted by Simba last week.

“I aim to play abroad at the highest standard,” Titus expressed, having recorded an impressive 11 goals and six assists in 47 appearances for Stellenbosch this season. “However, I’m thankful to Stellenbosch for everything they have provided me. I wish to give back, and they know my ultimate goal is overseas.”
He continued, “[Regardless,] every young player shares that aspiration, and I hope to achieve it.”
While Titus and Stellenbosch wrapped up their Confederation Cup adventure in the semi-finals, exceeding expectations, Van Rooyen also faced a semi-final exit in the CAF Champions League with Orlando Pirates, losing to Pyramids.
In contrast, Adams and Rayners are preparing to compete in the Champions League final after Mamelodi Sundowns advanced against defending champions Al Ahly on away goals. Sundowns will face Pyramids in a two-legged final later this month and in early June.
Titus extended his best wishes to Adams and Rayners, who played crucial roles in Stellenbosch’s Carling Knockout triumph last season—the club’s first significant trophy—alongside their third-place finish in the Betway Premiership.
“They are my friends. I hope they can win and make South Africa proud, especially since they hail from Stellenbosch,” Titus commented.
