Cape Town City Appoints Under-the-Radar Coach

Cape Town City has officially appointed Jan Vreman as the new head coach as they prepare for the upcoming Motsepe Foundation Championship season.

The 59-year-old Dutch manager will lead City as they navigate their campaign in the second division, following their relegation from the PSL last season through the promotion/relegation playoffs.

This decline has already prompted notable changes within the team, with veteran players Thami Mkhize and Thabo Nodada parting ways with the club.

“A new chapter commences. Cape Town City is thrilled to welcome Jan Vreman as our new Head Coach. Glad to have you with us, Jan,” the club announced on Monday morning.

Prior to this role, Vreman was at the Dutch club De Graafschap, managing the team from July 2023 to January 2025. He has spent a significant portion of his coaching career at De Graafschap, along with a brief period at Sdouc Ulft.

While there may be skepticism regarding Vreman’s capability to promptly elevate City back to the top tier, only time will reveal whether he can guide them back to the DStv Premiership.
