De Bruyne, who recently transferred to Napoli as a free agent from Manchester City, made his first start under manager Antonio Conte.
The underdog team Arezzo managed two goals, both occurring late in each half, achieving a stunning pre-season victory over the Italian champions.
The opening goal, a penalty from Emiliano Pattarello, surprised Napoli just before halftime after a seemingly dominant first half.
Then, in stoppage time, Muhamed Varela scored another Arezzo goal, sealing a memorable win at Napoli’s training ground.
Despite the loss, a courteous De Bruyne took the time to pose for photos with a group of Arezzo players post-match on Tuesday evening.
The Belgian talent, 34, was spotted standing barefoot in the center circle, appearing slightly shy while smiling for the camera.
De Bruyne was replaced at halftime by defensive midfielder Stanislav Lobotka, while former Premier League star Romelu Lukaku played the entire second half.
De Bruyne will don the No.11 jersey this season, but out of respect, he trained in shorts featuring Diego Maradona’s retired No.10.
