Bay Coach Draws Confidence from Previous Season’s Victories Against the Chiefs
Co-coach Ronnie Gabriel of Richards Bay recognizes the challenge of their upcoming away match against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, while also hoping to build on the team’s successes from last season.
In the previous season, the Natal Rich Boys defeated Chiefs in both home and away matches, which significantly contributed to their top-eight finish for the first time.
However, their current season has begun poorly; they have lost both of their opening league games and are sitting in 15th place without any points.
These losses came against Marumo Gallants and Golden Arrows, both of which were played at their home venue. Furthermore, the KwaZulu-Natal side suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals.
In contrast, the Glamour Boys have started the season strongly, winning their first two matches without conceding a single goal.

Gabriel intends to draw inspiration from their previous victories over Chiefs as they prepare for the match. “We need to look back at our past performances against Chiefs, reignite those feelings, and trust that we can go there and succeed,” he emphasized.
“In our last encounter, we defeated Chiefs at home, so it’s vital to revisit our strategies and use that as motivation to show our ability to compete away from home and aim for a positive result.”
While recognizing the difficulties ahead, Gabriel stays optimistic. “Playing against Chiefs away is always tough, and it’s an important match, so we must get ready thoroughly,” he remarked.
