Durban CBD: Fatal Accident Involving Minibus Taxi, Bakkie, and Car Results in Man Being Ejected
Durban – A man in his 60s sadly passed away this morning after being thrown from a minibus taxi due to a collision involving two other vehicles at the intersection of Anton Lembede Street and Dorothy Nyembe Street in the Durban CBD.
According to Garrith Jamieson, a spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, the multi-vehicle crash occurred around 06:00 on Saturday morning.
“When paramedics arrived, they encountered chaos and devastation, having discovered that a taxi, a bakkie, and a light motor vehicle were involved in a collision at the intersection, causing two of the vehicles to leave the roadway,” Jamieson reported.
“An immediate triage was performed on-site, revealing that a male, estimated to be in his 60s, had been ejected from the taxi and, tragically, sustained fatal injuries.
“There was nothing further paramedics could do, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Jamieson also noted that two other individuals suffered moderate injuries and were stabilized on-site by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to nearby hospitals for additional care.
“Currently, the exact circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear; however, the SAPS [South African Police Service] are on-site and will carry out an investigation,” Jamieson stated.
