Pre-Exam Holiday Programs for Mpumalanga Students Ahead of the National Senior Certificate Exams
Mbombela (formerly known as Nelspruit) – The Mpumalanga Department of Education is providing supplementary classes for Grade 12 students to help them prepare for the upcoming final National Senior Certificate Examination.
The holiday sessions, lasting five days, will take place at selected venues throughout the province from 6 to 10 October 2025.
Mpumalanga Education MEC Lindi Masina noted that these additional classes will benefit 159 schools that had a pass rate below 80% in the 2024 National Senior Certificate Examination.
Approximately 19,688 learners are anticipated to take advantage of these holiday sessions before the start of the fourth term on 13 October 2025.
MEC Masina indicated that the education department has enlisted “top-performing” teachers to assist students during these holiday classes, with a focus on more challenging curriculum topics.
These educators will also provide guidance on effective exam strategies.
“In 2024, Mpumalanga achieved an impressive 84.99% pass rate, and through these initiatives, the department aims to enhance standards even further in 2025,” MEC Masina remarked.
“We encourage everyone in the province to help support the class of 2025.
“Let’s create an environment that sets Mpumalanga up for success.”
MEC Masina urged candidates to remain committed to their studies and to trust in their own abilities, stressing that their future is in their own hands.
“To our learners, every moment of preparation counts,” she stated.
“Stay focused, exercise discipline, and don’t let anything distract you from your goals.
“You represent our aspirations, and we believe in your potential to succeed.”
The National Senior Certificate Examinations are scheduled to begin later this month on 23 October 2025.
