Chelsea Player Ratings: Levi Colwill struggles again as Moises Caicedo shines in the face of Brighton pressure – The Sun
CHELSEA has spent significant sums on players from Brighton in recent seasons, yet it’s ironic that Brighton pointed out the inadequacies in Enzo Maresca’s squad.
The Blues were knocked out of the FA Cup at the Amex this past Saturday, and then, just a few days later, they endured a 3-0 loss to the Seagulls in the Premier League.
It was a frustrating night for Chelsea, and here’s how SunSport‘s Isabelle Barker evaluated the players’ performances.
FILIP JORGENSEN 5
Jorgensen can’t entirely be blamed for the three goals allowed, particularly considering Mitoma’s spectacular goal. Nonetheless, Chelsea fans might be reminiscing, thinking, ‘be careful what you wish for,’ as Robert Sanchez doesn’t seem as bad anymore.
MALO GUSTO 6
Gusto stood firm at times, especially during one-on-one battles against Mitoma, showcasing some of Chelsea’s better defensive moments throughout the match.
LEVI COLWILL 5
Colwill’s performance was typified by a lost ball under little pressure, and his failure to recover resulted in conceding two goals due to his vulnerability.
TREVOH CHALOBAH 5

The center-back had a tough time keeping tabs on Mitoma for the opening goal.
MARC CUCURELLA 5
He struggled to handle Yankuba Minteh and was embarrassed by the Gambian winger during Brighton’s third goal, much to the delight of the jeering home crowd.

MOISES CAICEDO 7
Caicedo faced chants of “what a waste of money”.
He has been one of the few bright spots for the Blues in recent months and remained Maresca‘s standout player on this occasion.
His substitution was unexpected, but perhaps it was a precautionary measure given the game was out of reach.
ENZO FERNANDEZ 6
The Chelsea captain almost scored an equalizer in the 36th minute with a header over Joel Veltman, but he was adjudged to have fouled the Dutchman in the process. He seemed sluggish in other areas throughout the match.
NONI MADUEKE 5
Madueke had a minimal impact and was substituted in the 20th minute due to a hamstring injury.
The Blues are quickly running out of forward options, with him joining Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu on the injury list.
Additionally, Joao Felix has been loaned to AC Milan, while Mykhailo Mudryk is currently suspended for an alleged failed drug test.
COLE PALMER 5
Palmer was visibly frustrated throughout the game, often throwing his hands up in exasperation at his teammates’ lack of support.
When he finally managed to take a shot, he sent it well off target, and Chelsea ended up not registering a single effort on goal all night.
